Your child's toy has a name, a personality, and a whole world inside their head. We turn that world into a real printed book, written around your toy, your child, and the adventure you choose.

Drag the slider. The toy you upload becomes the hero of every page, and the cover.

Your toy on the front of a hardcover book.

This is the hero of the story. The more you tell us, the better we can capture their personality.

Every child has a toy that is more than a toy. It has a name, a personality, and a place in every story they tell. We built Woefje to turn that world into a printed book they can hold.
Give your toy a story“We gave her a white polar bear, but she took one look at him, decided he was a dog, and called him Woef Woef. By now she knows he's a bear, but his name is still Woef Woef.”
My daughter is two years old. She has a white bear she was absolutely convinced is a dog. His name is Woef Woef. That is just who he is.
Woef Woef goes everywhere. He rides in the car, sleeps next to her pillow, and has strong opinions about essentially everything.
One day I thought: I would love for her to have a book where Woef Woef is the hero. But not just a generic storyline book, a story we can choose and build a whole world for her around.
That book obviously didn't exist, so I decided to build it. And Woefje was born!
Woefje exists because every child's toy deserves its own story and because stepping into your child's imagination is one of the most beautiful things a parent can do.

Upload a photo and answer a few questions about your child and the adventure you have in mind. It takes about three minutes.

We write a full personalised story with your toy as the hero. You read every page, approve what you love, and tell us what to change.

Once you're happy with the story, we create full watercolour illustrations for every page, with your toy as the character throughout.

A real hardcover book, printed in the Netherlands and delivered to your door. You only pay once you've approved the story. Printed and delivered within 5-7 working days.
The vocabulary, sentence length, illustration coverage, and conversation prompts are all tuned to your child's developmental stage.
Children process the world through their toys. A Woefje book gives you a familiar way in - for the conversations and feelings that come with growing up.

A story built around your child's earliest sounds, and the toy already attached to their heart. Repetition, rhythm, and a familiar face on every page.

A strange new thing appears in the bedroom, and the toy isn't sure about it at all. A playful story about turning something scary into something familiar - one game at a time.

Big changes for small hearts. A story where the toy welcomes a new face into the family, told the way only your child's hero can tell it.

Suspicious greens become a tiny enchanted forest to explore. A playful adventure where one brave taste turns out to be the bravest thing of all.

New rooms, a different smell, half-unpacked boxes. The toy makes the move with them, and helps it feel like home faster.

Bedwetting is normal and nothing to be ashamed of. A gentle, magical bedtime journey where your child's hero learns that everyone has wobbly nights - and every morning is a fresh start.
And many more - every Woefje book is written around the moment you choose.
We write a full story preview at no cost. You get to see the full storyline and a reference illustration. You only pay when you love it.

"Personalised books produce measurably more smiles, questions, and re-reads than even a child's favourite book."
- Kucirkova et al., 2013
Every two to three pages, a question is built into the story to pause and read together. Back-and-forth during reading is one of the strongest predictors of language growth.
"Children who re-read the same book learn significantly more new vocabulary than children who hear nine different stories."
- Horst et al., 2011
Children engage more with a character they already know. Parents often use a Woefje book to open conversations that are otherwise hard to start: a new sibling, starting school, a visit to the doctor.
"Children learn more from characters they already have an emotional bond with than from unfamiliar ones."
- Kucirkova et al., 2014

Create your bookYou upload a photo of your child's favourite toy, tell us about the toy and your child, and our system writes and illustrates a complete book starring that exact toy. You preview the story before paying, then we print and ship the hardcover.
Yes. Before you pay anything, you see your toy turned into an illustrated character, plus the full page-by-page storyline. For each page you see the exact text that will appear in the printed book and a description of the illustration we'll create for that page. If something doesn't feel right, you can ask for a free rewrite of the story before committing to the order.
About a week. The story and a first illustration appear within a few minutes. That's the preview you check before paying. After payment we generate the full book, review every page, and send it to our printer in Groningen. Delivery in the Netherlands typically takes around five working days from print.
We tailor each book to one of four age brackets: 0-1, 2-3, 4-6, and 6+. Younger books have very short sentences and lots of visual play. Older books carry more story, longer sentences, and gentle questions to think about along the way.
Dutch, German, and English. The full book, including the story, engagement questions, and any text inside illustrations, is written in the language you choose at checkout.
Most often, parents ordering for their own child. Sometimes it's a treat, a holiday adventure, or a way to mark a milestone like a new sibling or starting school. Other times it's a way to help work through something a child is struggling with, from picky eating to bedtime worries. We also see plenty of orders from grandparents, aunts and uncles, and friends looking for a birthday gift that lands differently than the usual toy. If your child has a stuffed friend they love, there's a book in it.
A clear, well-lit photo from the front is best. We don't need a studio shot. Most parents take one on their phone against a plain wall or floor. Our system reads the colours, shape, and personality from the photo, so anything that's in focus and not too dark works.
No, and that's by design. The toy is the hero of the book, and keeping the spotlight on them is what makes the story feel like your child's own world to step into. We also feel strongly about your child's privacy. By leaving them out of the artwork, we give your child the room to picture themselves in the adventure, which sparks more imagination than any drawing of them could. Your child's name still runs through the story text, so the book is unmistakably theirs.
Each story is written from scratch for your order, shaped by the details you give us about your child, their age, and the adventure you have in mind. We don't drop names into pre-written templates. Every book has its own arc, characters, and ending.
Yes. You get one rewrite before paying. If something doesn't feel right after reading the preview, leave a note about what you'd like changed and we'll regenerate the story. We allow one rewrite to keep the process focused. In practice most parents find the first version is the one they want.
Not quite, and we want to be upfront about that. Every page is illustrated as its own piece of art. There's no single hand drawing all forty pages in sequence. To keep your toy recognisable from page to page, we built a system that captures its specific colours, proportions, and features and feeds those into every new illustration alongside the previous page. After many months of tuning, the result is consistent enough that most parents flip through the finished book and don't notice anything off.
Small things can still slip through. A slightly different ear, a stitch that moves, a colour that drifts. We review every book by hand before it goes to print and fix what we can, but sometimes a page is impossible to fix without breaking something else, and we have to live with a tiny imperfection. We've thought hard about whether that's a dealbreaker, and our answer is no. Children don't notice the things adults do. What they see is their best friend, the one who sleeps next to them every night, on an adventure made just for them. That's what makes them smile, and that's the thing we work hardest to get right.
You don't have to take our word for it. Before you pay anything, we show you the story and the first illustration of your toy. If it doesn't look right, leave a note about what you'd like changed and we'll regenerate it. There's no charge for this and no commitment until you've seen what you're getting. That's the whole point of the preview step: you only order once you're happy.

Yes. Once your book is finalised, you can reorder additional copies at the same price as the first. We also keep your toy's reference illustrations safely on file, so if you'd ever like to make a brand new story starring the same toy, the visual groundwork is already done and you can go straight to writing the next adventure.
Every Woefje book is personalised to your child and printed to order, which under EU consumer law makes it exempt from the standard 14-day right of withdrawal that applies to off-the-shelf goods. In plain terms: once a book is made, it can't be resold or used again, so we can't accept returns simply for a change of heart. This is why we built the free preview and rewrite step before payment. You see the story and the first illustration of your toy before you commit, and you can adjust until it's right. If your book arrives damaged, misprinted, or with the wrong details, get in touch and we'll put it right at our cost.
We use the photo only to create your book and we store it securely. We never share or sell your data, and you can ask us to delete everything from your account at any time.
